Know that we have discussed the on page factors in lesson one. It is time to move on to the off page factors. The off page factors are just as important as on page, actually a little bit more important. The off page factor comes down to how many in bound links you have. In bound links are the number of websites that have direct links to your site. The off page factors are like a popularity contest. The more relevant inbound likes you have going to your site, the more popular you your web site is. one way inbound link are way more effective than reciprocal links. Reciprocal links worked pretty good in the past. But more intelligent search engine like Google tend to cancel these links out or tend to not weigh them as heavy as one way links.

What do search engines look for in a in link ranking factors?

  1. link age
  2. page rank of site of link page
  3. page rank of link page
  4. relevance of link page to your site and anchor text
  5. relevance of site of link page
  6. link growth how many links your site acquires in a period of time.
  7. the anchor text of the link.

Anchor text is the text that appears in website links. In other words, instead of simply displaying the URL of a given website, you might provide some descriptive text - this is known as anchor text. The anchor text of the links are very important. you generally want the majority of your anchor text to be your targeted keyword around 65%. And the rest should consist of long tail versions of your targeted keyword for and also use your url in some of the text. You need to mix the anchor text up a little bit To make it appear natural to the search engines.

Link types

  1. submit web site to directories
  2. submit to search engines
  3. write articles that are relevant to your web site
  4. buy links not (recommended) although this can be effective search engines are starting to catch on to this and may cancel the links out.
  5. comment to relevant blogs
  6. find authority site and email them to see if they are interested in working with you as a link partner.

Avoid the Google sand box 

  1. avoid generating to many link in a short period of time. (Google will put your site in the sand box and deindexed your site if you are to aggressive. try to generate around 50 or less links a week to start off with or it will not appear natural to the search engines).
  2. Avoid duplicate content. do not copy other peoples content. The search engines will catch on to it.
  3. Avoid using the same anchor text (mix it up a little)
