By Kevin John Lewis

If you write content, whether you write articles, blogs, website content - or content in various formats as I do - you’re probably the victim of content scraping, also known as splogging, or spam blogging. Basically, people scrape parts of, or entire articles & blogs, and use them as content on their own instantly content generated websites.

The reason I am writing this article, is to alert those who are using this method - who perhaps didn’t realize quite what they were doing. As I am finding that some people are being sold programs to do this, without fully realizing what they’re actually doing, and the possible implications for them.

Whatever you call this kind of tactic - it is theft. when you create anything, whether it’s art - or textual content - it’s is protected by copyright, and nobody has the right to use is, apart from within any terms & conditions of use as stated on the article websites or on your terms of use in your website.

EzineArticles (and other articles sites) clearly state that in order to publish an article on your website from EzineArticles, you must agree to publish the entire article including the resource box with the backlinks, and with no changes at all to the content. So, whether you’re scraping content from blog sites, or scraping parts of articles without the resource box - it’s theft, and you’re not likely to get away with it for long.

Hosts & ISP’s are concerned about this, and will take action if you pursue them - it does not take long at all, with most good hosts, for them to enforce their AUP (Acceptable Use Policiy) and close down a website.

If you steal people’s content, that they have worked long & hard to create - they are going to be very upset, and most will not even bother to contact you first to give you the option of making things right, they’ll go straight for your host, as well as attempting to get you banned from any of the partners you’re using to monetize the site, such as Google AdSense for example, Clickbank, or any other affiliate partner.

Personally, I spend time searching for websites that scrape my content - I email them first, if I get no response after a week then I do a Whois lookup & contact the host, and I’ll contact Google AdSense, PayPal, Clickbank, any other partner of the website to alert them of what is happening.

I did this the first time I started to search for people scraping my content, which was quite recently, and I was quite surprised to get what seemed like a very real apology from the website owner, who had bought into a piece of software with no idea that he was stealing content - that afternoon I went to his site again, and he had taken down every single page, as every page had been generated using content scraping.

It seems a lot of people are not meaning to steal content, they are buying into programs without fully realizing what they’re doing is wrong, and when they find out they are often horrified, and do take action straight away. Not all of them, of course there are some people who will be completely comfortable with what they’re doing, and will just do it for as long as they can before they get shut down.

So, if you are currently using content scraping and you didn’t realize what you were doing, stop now! If you were considering doing this, hopefully this auricle has helped to change your mind. And finally, if you’re a writer and you find people who are scraping your content - just send them an email first & give them the opportunity to realize they’re making a mistake, and to correct it, before taking further action.

Know that we have discussed the on page factors in lesson one. It is time to move on to the off page factors. The off page factors are just as important as on page, actually a little bit more important. The off page factor comes down to how many in bound links you have. In bound links are the number of websites that have direct links to your site. The off page factors are like a popularity contest. The more relevant inbound likes you have going to your site, the more popular you your web site is. one way inbound link are way more effective than reciprocal links. Reciprocal links worked pretty good in the past. But more intelligent search engine like Google tend to cancel these links out or tend to not weigh them as heavy as one way links.

What do search engines look for in a in link ranking factors?

link age

page rank of site of link page

page rank of link page

relevance of link page to your site and anchor text

relevance of site of link page

link growth how many links your site acquires in a period of time.

the anchor text of the link.

Anchor text is the text that appears in website links. In other words, instead of simply displaying the URL of a given website, you might provide some descriptive text - this is known as anchor text. The anchor text of the links are very important. you generally want the majority of your anchor text to be your targeted keyword around 65%. And the rest should consist of long tail versions of your targeted keyword for and also use your url in some of the text. You need to mix the anchor text up a little bit To make it appear natural to the search engines.

Link types

submit web site to directories

submit to search engines

write articles that are relevant to your web site

buy links not (recommended) although this can be effective search engines are starting to catch on to this and may cancel the links out.

comment to relevant blogs

find authority site and email them to see if they are interested in working with you as a link partner.

Avoid the Google sand box

avoid generating to many link in a short period of time. (Google will put your site in the sand box and deindexed your site if you are to aggressive. try to generate around 50 or less links a week to start off with or it will not appear natural to the search engines).

Avoid duplicate content. do not copy other peoples content. The search engines will catch on to it.

Avoid using the same anchor text (mix it up a little)

In the next lessons we will get more involve in the link types and how to get links.

Many people are looking for help choosing keywords for their website. They want to find the best keywords for online advertising . Well, here’s a couple great tips!

There are A LOT of strategies about this but I think there are a few basics that will work very well. You need a good keyword research tool (besides your brain which is excellent) Now you might be surprised, but I think the best ones are free! So don’t think you’ll need to buy one to get started.

I would suggest the Google research tool or the SEO Book Keyword suggestion tool. Either one of these tools will help you find the best keywords for online advertising. Sometimes it’s helpful to use both of them together.

So lets say your site is about finding good keywords and you want to use the keyword phrase “how to find a good keyword” then you would enter it in Google just like that, with the quotes around it. That will show you your real competition for that keyword phrase. Then look and see how many results come back. Anything under 1000 will work great. As far as the number of searches per month, it really depends on what kind of campaign you are setting up.

If you found out that say “how to find a good keyword” only had 7 results (competing pages) but that there were 6 searches a day, that might be a great little keyword phrase. But if it had 15,000 results and only 2 searches a day, then that would not be a good keyword phrase to use.

Getting a business started may be difficult for the people who do not have enough background about it. But if you know what you are getting into and you are knowledgeable about the things that you can do, then there is a bug chance that you will enjoy your business.

But we all know that when it comes to business, one of the most important factors that are considered is the amount of profit that you can get. Normally, you would have to exhaust every option that is available for you to get the amount that you will need as profit. You can only be considered as successful if you have gained enough profit for the business to continue. There are many types of business that you can engage into and there is a chance that you will have to deal with your competitors. Thus, you have to get the attention of more people so that you will be able to get more income. You may also consider having competitors in the market that you choose as a good indicator since you can think of this market as a desirable one and there may be a good profit that awaits you if you are successful in the business.

As a businessman, you should know how to adapt to the changes that are happening around. This would be helpful so that you will know how to respond and to make the proper decisions for your business. One of the things that you should know is proper advertising. As it is an essential part of marketing, you should learn how to tap more channels so that your target consumers will know about your business. As the technology changes, there are more means of advertising that are present today.

One of the most reliable ways for the promotion of a business would be through search engine optimization. With the Internet, you can get a chance to catch more audience and use the search engine optimization techniques to meet with their needs and communicate what your business has to offer to the consumers. With the use of search engine optimization, you can make your business more popular to the people that have a bigger chance to be your clients. You should already know that the Internet can make big changes to the ways that you run your business so whatever product or service you may be selling, you should remember to consider the possible effects of search engine optimization to your business.

You can have a business website but this can go unnoticed and useless if you do not know search engine optimization strategies. Thus, you have to learn more about it and how your business can improve when you already know how to deal with the business.

By Kevin John Lewis

Many business people are concerned about having search engine optimization work done on their websites - or finding out how to do it themselves, as they have heard marketing horror stories about SEO gone wrong, leading to websites doing worse for traffic as a result, or worse still being de-indexed altogether.

The simple answer is that search engine marketing IS safe, as long as it’s done in a safe manner.

There is one safe type of search engine promotion , which is white hat organic SEO. I’m not going to discuss the other type of SEO, because quality article sites won’t even give this the time of day, I only have to mention that here and the article will hit the trash can!

Simply put, white hat SEO consultants use techniques & strategies that are NOT frowned upon by the search engines - and search engine optimization IS safe, as long as it is safe, white hat organic SEO - not breaking the search engines terms of service by trying to cheat to get easier & faster results.

The unsafe methods of SEO involve trying to cheat the search engines. Search engines are not easily fooled, especially Google, it doesn’t take long for them to figure things out. This means that anyone trying to get away with this kind of tactic, have to keep one step ahead of Google & the other search engines in order to keep the rankings up.

You’ve got to be one heck of a clever person, to stay one step ahead of a company like Google, who employ hundreds of incredibly clever people to make sure that cheating & shortcuts cannot work, and not only that, but this requires a lot of work - which means it’s going to cost a lot of money to keep positions!

Going back to the original question “is SEO dangerous” you now know the answer - as long as you stick to safe, organic white hat SEO, then no, it’s not dangerous at all.

Matching keywords on your Google AdWords account is very crucial for those who serve paid ads on Google. Without appropriate keyword matching someone can end up paying through their teeth for the clicks per ad and yet not get a positive response on their ads. Google provides the option of choosing positive and negative keywords matching on your AdWords account.

While opening the AdWords account one has to select a single-keyword phrase in the first ad group. Go back to the first ad group and select “edit keywords” option, which in turn will open up the Keyword and CPC (cost per click) edit dialogue. Here there are three different types of positive keyword match option available:

1) Broad Match: This is a very flexible match option, as Google automatically runs the ads on all variations of your keywords, even if they are not the precise keyword. This way Google can serve more ads and you might make more money. Despite that this is not a very wise option to select because although the number of clicks on your ads will be a lot, the kind of customers coming may not be your target audience.

2) Exact Match: Exact match is where the keywords are surrounded by square brackets and your ad will appear only when someone types that exact search query. For example if your keywords are [Elton John DVDs] and someone types “Elton John DVDs online”, your ad would not appear. Exact match tends to maximize conversion rates, but it leads to a substantial decrease in the number of clicks on your ad. Therefore, this too is not the best option to choose for positive keyword match.

3) Phrase Match: If your keywords are surrounded by quotation marks (e.g., “Elton John DVDs”), your ad will appear whenever someone enters a search query that contains the exact phrase, even if they place the order of words before or after it. So a search query of “Elton John DVDs online” or “hit Elton John DVDs” would still serve your ad. In most cases this is the correct option to choose.

Negative keyword matching is a very powerful Google AdWords feature and justifies the use of paid marketing. This enables you to avoid serving ads to anyone who has included a particular trigger word in their search query, irrespective of whether the rest of the query is a good match. For example, someone sells luxury handbags online and her keywords are “buy handbags online”. People may click on her ad a lot but if they are looking to but cheap or discounted handbags, they will complete the purchase even after clicking on the ad. This is bound to cost a lot of money to the person placing the ad. But if she sets a negative keyword matching list that includes terms like “cheap, discount, sale, free, factory, and warehouse” etc., the response to her ad will probably be much better.

Negative keyword matching should be set at the campaign summary level. Add your negative keyword matching by clicking on “edit campaign negative keywords”.

I really don’t understand why folks would go through all the motions of building a site and then not at the very same time make it search engine friendly and optimized. It is far simpler to go that route than to go back in a rework it later. When you have search engines on a non stop stop search for focused content it only makes sense.

Keyword optimization should be part of everything thing you do, from creating websites to creating pages inside of your site to article marketing to blogging, what ever it may be. That is what the search engines are looking for so lets give it to them. It is far easier to give them what they want than to not. It all about attaining more visitors and that starts with your site being optimized. Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista love sites that are optimized.

Now many are under the impression that a brand new site can and will get picked up by the engines quickly and that can’t be further from reality. With google for instance they have what is known as the sandbox, and that is where your site goes until it’s turn comes around. That is one of the reasons why you choose other methods for driving a ton of traffic to your sites. Best estimates I can give you, for how long it may take is about 9 months to a year to get that site fully indexed on the pages of the major search engines.

Many, many new marketers are misled in this area. Sure they will certainly send out spiders to crawl your site but the process of fully indexing takes much longer than you are led to believe. Now having said that, there is no need to despair. There are plenty of ways to be noticed and more than you can imagine.

Remember search engines read text, not flashy images, so it is vital that you keep your site text rich and keyword optimized for the spiders to pick up on the theme your site is trying to convey. Search engine robots know at first glance what that particular page is about and whether or not to index it. By using meta tags, you are making the search engine robot’s job easier so they will crawl and index your site more frequently. By adding a blog to any site you can get those spiders coming back a few times day searching for new content.

It has been observed that all kind of small business owners are expanding their local business into global arena through internet marketing to continue their business growth. Thus they build up pretty website with their services or product gallery for enhancing their brand name in front of world wide audience.

But, how much you will be beneficial with that appealing website apart from organic search engine ranking while you are the most newcomer into this global market? A noticeable website is meager in receiving web traffic until it gets famous into the search engines through keywords. Designing a pretty website is just the preliminary step of your internet business but nothing more than that.

What are the other ideas for promoting your business brand except SEO optimization? Thinking about publishing online banners in reputed websites? Giving adds at famous same theme business websites? Circulate your business news into all possible web forums?

Trust me, these are much expensive and hazardous ways than taking advice from a professional growing SEO services. As a matter of interest, it has been seen in a recent survey that more than 95 % visitors come in through search engines. Then can you explain me, why shouldn’t a firm go for organic SEO optimization?

Don’t forget that you are investing much to build your pretty professional website and as because of your new arrival you are not popular into the global market. Here comes the necessity of professional SEO optimization. You need to promote yourself first into the search engines then you need to ride up into the top positions through keywords.

Now, if you are taking SEO optimization in a serious manner then you can realize that it is the other name of publishing your business services or products or business goals through a properly optimized website into the search engines. But, if you are taking SEO acutely, then it is none other than a promotion policy of your site through few effective keywords.

Then the question arises, why small business owners require leading SEO services? There are few reasons behind that, first reason is that to promote your website properly into the search engines is only possible when your website is optimized by relevant keywords which are effective at your business market.

The second reason is to enhance your brand promotion through an effective online campaign which will continuously increase your brand name as well as helping in the entire financial growth of your business firm i.e. rising local business to the global internet marketing arena within minimum possible time.

Only through SEO optimization you are able to receive thousands of tremendously improved qualified web traffic in other term vast organic unique visitors to your website which will produce more business to you in a very short time span.

Obviously the most important reason which will appearing at the business owner’s mind is the expenditure will be the most prominent thought in a business owners mind. Yes, if you are hiring professional SEO services for proper optimization of your websites then the cost will apparently decreasing to get popular amongst the online market area. Apart from SEO all kinds of promotional ways are most expensive and time taking processes and while doing SEO, you only need to expend a little bit of that expensive expenditure.

Another reason is the SEO knowledge what they have in different segments in SEO work process. SEO services has good number of professionally sound employees in the field of content writing, on page optimization and off page optimization and also they also have different types of SEO strategies to promote different kinds of business theme (we all can assume that the promotion policies of law based sites should not be the same promotional policy of real estate sites).

SEO services are focusing on your SEO campaign thus you need not be nervous about your SEO campaign while in the meantime you can focus on your core business and it’s strategies for enhancement. SEO services properly optimize your website for all search engines to get ranked with logical and sensible relevant keywords which are most importantly effective on your business market area.
