By Jack M Mack

Google doesn’t index every site at the same speed if website A adds a new page at the same time as website B this does not mean they will both be indexed at the same time. Why is this? In this article I will discuss why this happens and what you can do to be website A.

Let’s start by discussing why Google indexes webpage’s quicker than others. The reason Google will index a page from website A before website B is mostly due the frequency that you add new pages to your website. If you think about it if you are adding pages every day then Google is going to pick up on this and crawl your website more often in search of new unique content. If on the other hand you only add new pages once a month then Google won’t index your new content as regularly.

If you want Google to increase the crawl rate of your website you need to add new pages with unique content on a regularly basis. However just adding any old rubbish won’t help Google still needs to value the content you are adding. If you add a sitemap xml document to Google through your Google webmasters account this will help as Google can see when you add new content and from here you can also see the crawl rate of your website. Adding a sitemap xml can also give you a host of other statistics regarding your website.

Another way to get your webpage’s index quicker is by getting links from other websites that Google indexes quick. For example if you add you content to websites like Digg which is a website that get indexed very frequently then Google will find your link and follow it to your website. Then from there Google can decide whether to index your webpage or not.

If you need you ecommerce web design to be indexed quicker hiring a search engine optimisation company that knows about these things can help.

Making sure your new pages on your website are well linked from other indexed pages on your website will also help as when Google revisits these pages it will find the new link pointing to your new page. You should never add content on your website just for SEO purpose you should only add new pages if you feel your website visitors are going to benefit from this new content. If you haven’t added an xml sitemap already I suggest this should be your first step.

By Kristine Wirth

It used to be that one of the top reasons web pages were ranked highly was due to their excessive use of stuffing keywords into their meta keywords tag or filling up their web page with the same word or phrase over and over; also referred to as “keyword density”.

As times have changed and as they continue to change there is still one critical element to effective SEO that has remained consistent throughout all search engine time and that is your title tag.

The title tag on your page holds a great amount of weight in the search engines; however, many websites still use their title tag the wrong way. What follows are the top 5 tips for effective title tag design that you can begin using right away for your on-page SEO strategy.

And just for the record, when we refer to the title tag, we’re referring to the code on your web pages that looks like this:

< title>The Important Page Title Keywords< /title>.

Tip #1: Keep your title tag under 64 characters. While each of the largest search engines; Google, Yahoo! and MSN each have their own rules when it comes to how many characters they display on their search results page, Google has the most restrictive rule of 64 characters. Anything longer than this, you run the risk of very important keywords or phrases not showing up in the search engine results page. This is important because your title tag is the hyperlink that a search visitor would click on to get to your page and if you had included some very important keywords in a text string longer than 64 characters, that title tag would get cut off in Google.

Tip #2: Keep the most important keyword for the web page front and center. What this means is that whatever main keyword or phrase you’re optimizing for on your web page, make it the very first word within your title tag. For example, if you were optimizing a page for “gourmet coffee” then you’d place that word at the beginning of your title tag. < title>Gourmet Coffee Tastes Great< /title>

Tip #3: This goes without saying but always, always use a title tag for each and every one of your web pages. You’d be surprised how many people overlook this simple little thing on their web pages but just to give you an example, visit Google and type in allintitle:”Untitled Document”. This will return all of those web pages that currently don’t have a title which means that they’re missing out on all of the potential search engine rankings they could be getting.

Tip #4: Remember that you write for a web searcher not a search engine. What this tip means is that even though you may be following the rule above by placing your main keyword at the beginning of your title tag, it must still read well for a typical web searcher. This is important because when your site does come up in the search engines results pages, the title tag for your web page is what becomes the clickable link that will take a web searcher to your web site. Additionally, the keywords that the person searched on are bolded if they’re contained within your title tag; and if you’ve done your job correctly, they will show up bolded within that link. If you simply can’t make the title to your page sound like a normal person would talk, then simply just use your keywords.

Here’s an example using our “gourmet coffee” keyword. You know by now that the phrase “gourmet coffee” should show up within your title tag since that’s the word you’re optimizing for. However, you might mention some gourmet coffee brands on this same web page and be tempted to use them in your title tag like so:

< title>Gourmet Coffee Peets Starbucks Boca Java< /title>

This doesn’t necessarily read well to the end user (the web searcher) so if you can’t make it sound like a real person would speak, don’t toss keywords in there just for the sake of using them. Stick to the simple keyword phrase of “gourmet coffee” like so:

< title>Gourmet Coffee< /title>

Tip #5: Keep your company name out! A very large mistake that many companies make is by placing their company name at the beginning of the title tag like so:

< title>The Coffee Company - Gourmet Coffee< /title>

First off, the main keyword phrase isn’t listed near the front of the title tag which is mistake #1 and mistake #2 is that the search engines will believe that the web page they’re indexing is about “The Coffee Company” first and “gourmet coffee” secondarily.

If you’re looking to rank your site for your company name, this is all well and good (although not recommended). You’re attempting to rank for “gourmet coffee” but instead are giving a higher importance to your company name.

If you absolutely must use your company name in your title tag, then place it at the end - like so:

< title>Gourmet Coffee - The Coffee Company< /title>

Whenever possible, keep your title tag simple and to the point. There’s no need to place an excessive amount of information within the title tag. Stick to the keywords that you’ve chosen for that page, keep your company name out of it if your boss will let you, and you’ll be thanked by the search engines by being so well-informed.

I know full well how difficult it can be to rank well in the search engines for competitive keywords. Most of the websites you are up against have been around for years and have thousands of backlinks. “I can never compete with them”, you may think. Not true. What if I told you there was an MSN ranking loophole that can make your website #1 in the rankings guaranteed?

Well folks, fortunately there is. Chris Rempel and David Kelly have cracked the MSN code. They are helping tons of people like you and me, rank #1 for competitive and highly profitable keywords everyday.

Did you know that having the #1 ranking website can bring you 75% or more of the organic search traffic for that keyword? Your website instantly becomes an authority page in whichever niche you decide.

The MSN ranking loophole can help you rank #1 easily. No longer will you have to spend hours upon hours every single day building backlinks and creating new content. You can have the top ranking in MSN within a couple weeks.

But before you say well MSN is not as good as Google and Yahoo. It is true, there are not as many searches per day as those two SE’s. But literally millions of people use MSN as their search engine every day. Having the #1 spot on MSN is actually better than being on Google’s first page for a competitive keyword.

Watch while your website traffic explodes. Highly targeted and purchase ready visitors will flock to your website because you are #1. There is an element of trust with the top ranked website. Conversions will go through the roof.

Don’t just take my word for it. You cannot afford to let this opportunity pass you by.

If you have a business opportunity based on the internet and you are using SEO (search engine optimization) to drive traffic to your site, here is a bit of interesting news.

Oh, maybe four or five months ago, Google and Yahoo made a deal to combine advertising. At the time, Google had a reported 75% of all search engine advertising. Yahoo reportedly has around 11-15% of the search engine advertising. I am not sure of all the details other than if this deal had gone through, Google would command at least 90% of all search engine advertising rendering all others insignificant. As a matter of fact, the numbers have been reported to be higher. That means that at least “over” 90% of advertising is Google. MSN has about 1% and all of the others dole out to maybe 1%. Yahoo has the rest of all the advertising which does make it important to get your keywords at the top of that particular search engine.

It is even more important now to pursue Yahoo with SEO. The deal between the two companies was dropped amid threats of lawsuits recently. Google, rather than trying to fight, decided to nix the deal. This is important for search engine optimization as Yahoo still does enough with 11 to 15% of the market to try and get your keywords and keyword phrases to the top. Google is still a monster and if you are working to get business opportunity leads through SEO, focus should be on it.

Here is a tip though:

Yahoo, because the algorithms they use for SEO vary greatly from Google’s, it is much easier to get top search engine ranking through Google than it is Yahoo. In time though, if you have done what it takes to get top positions in Google, Yahoo will soon follow.

Why do I like talking about SEO so much? It is free to implement and I can not think of any other way to get business opportunity leads coming to you rather than you chasing them!

Typical search engines crawl and index the many, many pages of the Internet - and we are talking about billions, if not trillions, of pages. If you search using one or two search terms like what most web searchers do, you will get quite a number of page results. Most of these results are not the ones you are really looking for. It is not unusual that the search engine will treat your search terms differently than what you intend it to be.

For instance, a simple search for the word flight will give you results as shown below:

Flight - a journey in an aircraft

Flight - a sudden movement

Flight - running or avoiding someone

Flight - another word for stairs

Searching this way can be time-consuming and getting results like this is a bit frustrating, especially if you don’t know any sophisticated techniques to get a more targeted result for your searches. This is where specialty search engines come in handy. Specialty search engines are more focused on a specific subject or topic thus they will give you more relevant results. In the above example, someone who wants to travel can easily look for flights by using a travel search engine.

Specialty search engines are also known as topical search engines, vertical search engines or vortals. They focus on a specific topic like business, law, or medical research, a geographic location, a target audience, or a specific file format like pdf files. Unlike general search engines, they search from only a few specific sites thus they often offer greater depth of coverage for a category that makes results narrower and more relevant.

Some of them also operate like directories where a human editor who is an expert in the subject reviews submitted sites before they got listed. This will make the results of higher quality and more reliable than what you can get from general search engines.

They can also help find the invisible web. Invisible web refers to the vast repository of information like databases that search engines and directories cannot retrieve. The contents of most of these databases require direct interaction from them. Since spiders cannot think and type the required fields in these databases, information cannot be retrieved. Not everything on the Web is visible because of technical barriers of search engine crawlers and the site owner’s deliberate choice of excluding his web pages from the search engines. The invisible web offers a gold mine of information that you may not want to miss.

With all the buzz centered around Google many people seem to think that you must master Google search to make a good deal of money online. While Google is without question the largest search engine, many people are quietly making a very good living from free Yahoo traffic. People seem to forget that not too many years ago Yahoo was the best search engine in the internet, and to this day it still receives a massive amount of searches each and every day. I promise if you are listed high in Yahoo you can make a lot of money. However, how do you get free Yahoo traffic?

First off, you must do a lot of the same things you do to get traffic on Google:

1. Write a lot of articles. Article marketing is extremely effective on Yahoo because you can get listed higher for key search terms considering Yahoo has less competition! So keep churning out those articles and see traffic from Yahoo come flooding to your website or blog.

2. Use Yahoo search marketing. This is a service by Yahoo that costs around $30 last time I checked and is Yahoo’s answer to Google AdWords. While AdDords is cheaper to start, Yahoo search marketing has much less competition, which could lead to a lot more traffic for you.

3. To generate free Yahoo traffic, you need to visit forums related to your niche and leave some posts that actually contribute to the people in the discussion group. If you are able to create a popular discussion in your niche, the forum thread may get displayed high in Yahoo results, which means more traffic for you!

First of all, make sure you find good keywords by actually DOING keyword research. If you don’t, then the majority of your marketing material is a waste of your time. Think about it this way… how will people find your website on the internet?

People type keywords into search engines such as Google. Keywords don’t have to be a single word, such as “shoe”. A keyword phrase, such as “best hiking shoe”, is also called a keyword.

The search results for that keyword is simply a list of individual web pages that Google deems significant to your typed keyword. The more significant the web page, the higher up the web page is listed, or “ranked”.

So, a keyword like “shoe” is very broad, and probably not the best choice for a keyword, unless your site sells every shoe under the planet. But even then, “shoe” could include anything related to shoes… shoe repair, shoe shining, shoe manufacturing, you name it.

For more targeted traffic and qualified, make sure you use longer keywords that include 3 to 5 words. Not only will your traffic be more targeted, meaning the right type of prospect, but the search engines will rank you higher.

Google likes it when keywords are relevant to the content of the web page. The more relevant the more significant the web site in Google’s eyes. So for example, if you write an article on “The 5 Best Shoe Shining Tips”, you would want to use keywords that have to do with shoe shining, such as “shoe shining tips”, or shoe shining tips for leather”.

And don’t guess on what keywords to use! That’s the biggest mistake you can make. Let the tools tell you what keywords to choose for your marketing material and optimization efforts. I say this, because the tools actually TELL you what is currently being searched.

What ARE the actually keywords that people type into search engines, and how frequently. They also tell you how much competition there is for the keywords. Competition meaning, how many web pages are competing for the high ranking on those keywords in their keyword marketing.

Article marketing is the best way to market your articles online. However, submitting articles to article directories can be a daunting task. It can take as long as one hour of boredom to submit these articles to 10 different ezine sites or article directories. Would it be great if the whole process was automated? You would be able to submit one article to ten article directories in just less than five minutes. It is a great idea, but then most of the automated article submission software have some or the other short comings

1. Article auto submission softwares have some loopholes or the other. For instance, some of them hang midway while submitting. After you have categorized the articles and put your article body, when you hit ’submit’ the articles are not actually ’submitted’.

2. Most of the auto submission article software are such that they have their own inbound links hidden in them which means your article is just a vehicle to advertise their automatic article submit software.

3.The articles that you submit are posted to the wrong categories.

4. Ezine article directories are smart enough to know that articles are auto submitted, so they change their coding appropriately which renders automatic submitting of articles obsolete.

5. Most automatic submitting article software submit articles to irrelevant article directories which means your articles will not feature in the first two pages of a search engine.

However, it does not mean automatic submission of articles is bad. If there is a system, an article submitter or an article submitting software, which can take care of the above loopholes, you can still benefit to a large amount from article marketing. Smart work is any day better than hard work. For saving on time and energy, automatic submitter for articles is the best option.
