Tips For SEO Consultants - Pick Your Clients Carefully
Tips For SEO Consultants - Pick Your Clients Carefully
By Kevin John Lewis
Many new SEO consultants make the mistake of jumping into every new SEO project that comes his or her way, grabbing any opportunity to take on a new client. It’s understandable of course, because once you’ve completed an SEO training course, or have spent a lot of time & effort teaching yourself how to do SEO effectively, you’ll want to go out & start building your career - and it’s not a natural thing to do, to want to turn down clients. But, if you’re going to do well in SEO you need to be very selective with what clients you take on, and which ones you very politely refuse.
What you need to take into consideration, is your current ability - and the complexity of the job you’re presented with.
When you take on a new client, you need to wow them - so that they then refer you to everyone they know. This will only happen if you achieve the results they were expecting & more. If you take on jobs that you know you will be successful with, you’re going to end up with a lot of referrals, and no lack of new clients.
If you take on SEO projects which are just too big for you to handle, you’re going to put yourself into a situation where you’re not going to be able to deliver, or over deliver on your promise, and if you do this often - you’ll find it a lot more stressful, and a lot harder to gain new clients, as you won’t have enough referrals.
